George Mikes said "When people say England, they sometimes mean Great Britain, sometimes the United Kingdom, sometimes the British Isles, - but never England". Just so that no "education quizzer" makes a faux pas, here is a brief lesson in where we live….
Individual countries are England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland.
Ireland comprises Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland (Eire).
The UK (United Kingdom) is England, Wales, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Great Britain is England, Wales and Scotland.
The British Isles is Great Britain and Ireland and over six thousand surrounding smaller islands.
Starting in October 2011 we will gradually be building our British Isles quizzes starting with counties then moving on to motorways, cities, rivers and national parks. Each individual quiz represents about 8 hours work to ensure that it plays correctly and contains the most interesting information to make it as enjoyable for you as possible. In the mean time we have to earn a living so please be patient with us for a few months!
