Tri Digraphs reminds KS1 children of the phonic sounds that are made up of three letters. Learning these phonic sounds will aid the way the child is taught to read at school. It will also improve their English language and literacy skills no end.
Most phonic sounds are made up of two letters, however, there are a few sounds that are three letters long. These are called tri digraphs. The word night is sounded out like this: n + igh + t. The middle sound is the same as ‘ie’ and ‘i_e’.
