Writing - Guess the Missing Letter

Writing - Guess the Missing Letter asks KS1 children to read a word carefully and figure out which letter is missing. This will hopefully encourage them to edit their work. Self-editing is mentioned in the National Curriculum for Year 2 pupils. This quiz adds another feather in their English and literacy cap!

There are 26 letters in the alphabet but some letters have run away. Have a look at the words and see if you can find the missing letter.

    A drawing can only be done with a pencil, pen or crayon. If you use paint then you are painting.
  9. Which letter is missing from the word: 'w_nd'?
    We have lots of different names for wind like gust, gale, breeze, storm or hurricane.
  10. Which letter is missing in the word: 'fo_tball'?
    The quickest goal to be scored during the World Cup was in eleven seconds by Turkey when playing against South Korea in 2002.
