on the moon, explorers and adventurers are some of the bravest and most daring
people around. They will go into the unknown simply to see what is there, not
knowing whether they will return.
The Greek explorer, Pytheas, was the first to circumnavigate
Great Britain.
This was back in 380 - c. 310 BC!
We tend to see explorers and adventurers as heroes - and
quite rightly so. They are romanticised in novels and films. Raiders of the
Lost Ark being a prime example. Many have lost their lives during their
explorations. Without these willing people, our knowledge of the planet and
beyond would be a fraction of what it is now.
