With this Lesson we will be wrapping up the “ER” verb spin that you have been on. Well, we will be wrapping it up for the time being. Naturally, while learning Spanish, there will always be many trips to revisit the verbs. For now, however, let us think about the day when you will be able to say, “I’m beginning to like these “ER” verbs!” Not there yet? That’s perfectly okay. It’s still a goal that can be achieved!
As this is the final Lesson in this series of learning to work with and getting to know your present vocabulary bank of “ER” verbs, there will once again be a total of 12 verbs included in the Lesson. Among those 12 verbs, one verb will be an “irregular” verb so be on the lookout for it. Remember, “irregular” verbs do not follow the same pattern of conjugation in the PRESENT TENSE as do “regular” verbs. Therefore, with that being said, let’s now take a look at the 12 “ER” verbs.
ENGLISH VERB | SPANISH “AR” VERB | AUDIO |
---|---|---|
answer | responder | 1 |
be | ser | 2 |
commit | cometer | 3 |
compel | compeler | 4 |
dread | temer | 5 |

exceed | exceder | 7 |
lick | lamer | 8 |
possess | poseer | 9 |
proceed | proceder | 10 |

spin | tejer | 12 |
That’s it! You will now have had the opportunity to review just about all of the 34 “ER” verbs to help you solidify how to conjugate them and to recognize their individual subject pronoun forms. This is really a tremendous accomplishment and, if you have made it this far, then there will be no stopping you from here-on-out! You are a determined soul who will let nothing stop you from reaching your goal of becoming fluent in Spanish! Good for you! Now let’s push that envelope in the Lesson’s Quiz just a little bit further but, first, it is time to tackle the Task!
As there has been so much to learn when it comes to verbs, before moving forward to take the Lesson’s Quiz, take out your Spanish notebook and do a quick review of each of the Spanish vocabulary verbs, as well as the words, you have learned to date, including the “ER” verbs that will be used from this Lesson. When you have completed your review it will be time to take the Quiz to see just how brilliant you have become!
The Lesson’s Quiz will contain ten verbs and a subject or other word, both given in Spanish. All of these words are taken from your vocabulary bank. No new or unknown words have been included. Therefore, you will be looking for the answer that will correctly translate the given verb and subject (or subjects, etc.). Put your thinking cap on and let’s see how you do!
