If you write a story and it’s from your point of view and written as if you are talking to the reader - then this is called first person narrative. If I write ‘I went to the park’ - then I am writing in first person. Test your knowledge on writing and staying in first person narrative.

When writing in the first person narrative, you are writing as if you are speaking so you would use the word 'I' quite a bit.

The 5-year-old would not understand what candy is.

Most likely the 5-year-old would disagree with the author because many 5-year-olds love candy.

What would be the point of view for the sentences above and picture below for most people?
The puppies will most likely hurt you.
It is hard to tell if the puppies would hurt you.
You would need to know what kind of dogs they are. Then you would know if they could hurt you.
The puppies are safe to pet.
The puppies are small and they appear to most people that they would be safe to touch.

What would be the point of view for the sentences above and picture below for most people?
People would disagree with the author.
People would agree with the author.
It is hard to tell if someone should agree or disagree with the author.
Several people may be able to cross this bridge.
There is too much of a gap in the bridge for anyone to be able to cross it.

When writing in first person, you can be writing about real life events or made up stories.

The most common ways to write are in first person and third person narrative. When you write in one narrative, you have to make sure you stay there!

The first answer was nearly correct but the second sentence slipped out of first person narrative. It's tricky but make sure you always stay in first person narrative if that's how you start your story!
