Spanish Cheat Sheet

Spanish – Level 0

(000) Finding Your Way Around

So, you have decided to learn to speak Spanish using the Education Quizzes online course system. We are delighted to have you with us and we will do everything we can to make the experience both enjoyable and profitable for you.

This is a profoundly logical course! You won’t be expected to “fill in the blanks” and you won’t be expected to guess words and phrases before you have had a chance to learn each word and/or phrase, as well as have practice using each word and/or phrases. Our step-by-step approach has been designed to eliminate the frustrations that many people face when learning a new language - you will never come across words or concepts that you have not already learned about.

For the time being, forget about the colored lines down the left-hand side of the screen – they are important but you will learn all about those in the next lesson.

Navigating:

When you were navigating to this page you may have noticed that the Spanish section of the site contains 10 different levels (Level 0 to Level 9) and each level gets progressively more difficult.

Each of the 10 levels contains 100 lessons numbered from 0 to 99. Each lesson, except for lessons 000 and 001 of Level 0, is then divided into three separate sections that include the body of the lesson, a Task to perform and, finally, a Quiz that will contain 10 questions that will deal specifically with that given lesson. The quizzes will be Lessons 9, 10, 19, 20, 29, 30, 39, 40 etc. all the way up to the final quiz being Lesson 99.

Each lesson has been assigned its own number. By simply looking at the number you will quickly be able to tell which level the lesson is in and which lesson in that level it is. This is because each lesson has a three digit number. The first digit tells you the level number and the second and third digits tell you the lesson number. For example, if the lesson has the number 315, then by looking at the first digit, in this case it is “3”, then that means that lesson is found in Level 3. The next two digits are “15”. This tells you that the lesson is the 15th lesson found in Level 3. If the lesson has the number 503, then the “5” tells you it is found in Level 5 and the “3” let’s you know that it is the third lesson in Level 5.

To help you with reviewing what you have learned, there will be two Review Quizzes after every eight lessons. These review quizzes will cover material that can be found in any lesson that came before the quiz. The Review Quizzes will never ask any question on things that you have not already been taught.

For the mathematicians amongst you, you will have come to realize that there are a huge number of quiz questions. In fact there are 10,000 questions - 10 levels x 100 lessons by 10 questions in each. Don’t be daunted by this prospect because you will have a good understanding of the language a long time before you get to level 10. By the time you get to level 10 you will be ready to start speaking Spanish fluently.

You can choose your own speed to go through the course of lessons without any pressure to keep up with a class. Re-do lessons as often as you like if you did not grasp a concept the first time around.

Each time that you do a lesson and play its quiz the score will be recorded for you and this means that you constantly have a record of your progress. You can have a break for a few weeks, or even a few years, and then pick-up exactly where you left off. If you are away for a long period you can re-play as many quizzes as you like to refresh your memory. We told you that this was a logical course and learning doesn’t come more logical than that!

Overview:

Here is a quick overview of the site so that you start to familiarize yourself with getting around. If you scroll up to the top of this page you will see that just beneath the blue bar near the top of the screen there is a “breadcrumb trail” that looks like this:

Home > Languages > Spanish > Level 0 > (000) Finding Your Way Around

This breadcrumb trail appears at the top of every page on our site and it lets you know exactly which page you are on. To get to the page you are currently reading you would need to do this:

On the Education Quizzes home page click or tap “Languages” and on that page…
Click or tap “Spanish” and on that page…
Click or tap “Level 0” and on that page…
Click or tap “(000) Finding Your Way Around”

You can click any element of the breadcrumb trail to be taken to a page further back in the sequence and this is a great aid to navigation.

Do you see how it works? When you have a few minutes to spare, tap or click your way around and experiment.”

You are going to be spending a good deal of time on the Spanish > Level 1 lessons and so you can easily find your way to them, it would be a good idea for you to add the following bookmark to your computer: www.educationquizzes.com/languages/spanish/Level1/

The page above is what we call a “Lesson Listing Page” and on it you will see a list of all 100 lessons in Level 0. Each time you play a quiz associated with a lesson your “Date Played” and “Previous Score” will be recorded and this provides a lasting record of your progress.

Incidentally, when you are logged in all of the lessons will have a “Play” button beside them. If ever you see “Preview” buttons beside the lessons it is because you haven’t logged in yet! When you are not logged in our system cannot recognize you and cannot record your scores.

Against some lessons you will see a little picture frame icon. This signifies that the quiz associated with that lesson is a picture quiz.

At the bottom of each quiz there is a list of options and you can avail yourself of any one of them. The options are:

Print the quiz
Report and error to Education Quizzes
Play the quiz again

All of the above probably sounds very complicated but it will become intuitive and second nature to you when you have used the system for a while. Now, let’s see if you have been paying attention! The first quiz is coming up…
