Maths Quiz - Number Sequences 3 (Very Easy) (Questions)

Welcome to the third quiz in our Very Easy series of Eleven Plus maths quizzes on Number Sequences. If you have played the previous two, then you will know it’s all about finding the missing value. But how? Trial and error is the best option – are the numbers going up? If so, the rule is most likely “Add a certain number” or “Multiply by a certain number”. If they are going down then the opposite is true. The rule will most likely be “Subtract a certain number” or “Divide by a certain number”.

The best way to get to grips with number sequences is to get plenty of practise! The more often you test yourself, the better you will be at filling in the series of numbers. Try this quiz until you always score ten out of ten, then move on to our next, slightly trickier, set of quizzes. Oh – if you haven’t already played th first two quizzes, then I’d suggest going back to them. The more you try, the better you will do in your exams.

3. Find the missing term.
8, X, 38, 53, …
[ ] 21
[ ] 22
[x] 23

[ ] -0.6
[x] -0.4
[ ] 0.6
[ ] 0.4
The next term is got from the previous term by subtracting 2, e.g. 3.6 - 2 = 1.6 and so on. Use your calculator if you struggle when going from positive to negative numbers
7. Find the missing term.
33, 27, X, 15, 9, …
