Verbal Reasoning Quiz - Questions About Words 4 (Questions)

So, you have made it to the fourth and final Questions About Words quiz – give yourself a pat on the back! As you will know by now, in the Eleven Plus verbal Reasoning exam, you may be asked how many consonants or vowels are in a list of words, or to arrange them alphabetically. We looked at vowels and consonants in the last quiz, so now let’s explain how to put words in alphabetical order.

The method is very simple, and I’m sure you already know it. Still, just in case…

  1. Look at the first letter in all the words and arrange them from A to Z.
  2. If two or more words begin with the same letter, look at their second letter and arrange them from A to Z.
  3. If two or more word have the same third letter, repeat the process with that letter. Continue with the subsequent letters until all the words have their own place in the list.

And now let’s move on to the quiz. Please do not rush through the questions – you’d be surprised just how many people get simple questions like these wrong, all because they thought they were too easy. Good luck!
