As you go through KS2 Maths, you'll discover more about how numbers work. Year Four is when you start exploring big numbers, even in the thousands! You'll learn that each digit's place (ones, tens, and hundreds) has a special value. For instance, ten tens make one hundred. You'll also get to write these big numbers using words.
Numbers are like a team with players in different positions: thousands, hundreds, tens, ones, tenths, and hundredths. Each player has a special role! In our number system, where a digit stands tells us its value - one digit means ones, two mean tens and ones, and so on.
