This KS2 PSHE quiz will help you understand how and why to care for your mouth. It also teaches you about the different teeth you have.
Oral health refers to the ability to look after our mouths and teeth. Babies are usually born without teeth and start to grow them through a process called teething at around 6 months. From the age of 6 children start to lose their baby teeth and grow their adult ones which, if looked after, should remain with them for the rest of their lives. It is important to have good oral health because if your mouth is unhealthy it can affect your teeth, tongue, gums and breath. Humans eat and drink a wide variety of items that are made from different ingredients that can affect the mouth in different ways, so you need to clean your teeth regularly and effectively to prevent damage and infections. From the age of 6 children should take responsibility for their own oral health as well as regular checkups at the dentist, therefore it is vital that you know what to do and why you should be doing it.
