Spelling Quiz - Words beginning with at... (Questions)

Are you tempted to attempt this KS3 quiz about spelling words beginning with at?

"When our spelling is perfect, it's invisible. But when it's flawed, it prompts strong negative associations." - Marilyn vos Savant.

If it's true that we only notice spelling when it is incorrect, how can anyone learn to spell well? If you read a lot, you might not notice individual spellings, but your mind will become accustomed to correct spelling. Being subconsciously familiar with the way words are spelled will be an advantage when you make a spelling mistake in your writing. When you re-read your work, the misspelled word might leap right off the page, flashing red lights and all. Then it will be your job to fix it!

There are other ways to work on your spelling, of course, including through practice, through grouping together words with similar roots, and through learning rules for adding suffixes and prefixes. You can also keep lists of words you use frequently but find difficult to spell correctly.
