Because there are so many verbs and ways to conjugate them, there are many quizzes throughout this series that will focus on those verbs. The nouns, adjectives, adverbs, definite articles, indefinite article, etc. fall into place pretty nicely and we want to be able to use them with all of those verbs. Therefore, as stated above, this will be the first quiz in a series of athletic verb quizzes. It will be the easiest as there will be fewer verbs to work with. The other quizzes in this athletic series will include Grammar: Verbs Marathon!, Grammar: Verbs Triathlon! and Grammar: Verbs Olympics!.

Each quiz in this athletic series will provide you with more and more Spanish verbs to study and conjugate. If a verb is regular in either the present tense or the past tense, you will not be provided with its conjugation. You will only be provided with the verb’s conjugation when it is an irregular verb. Should any verb be regular in both present and past tenses – only the verb and its meaning is given – no conjugation will be shown as you should be able to easily conjugate regular verbs in both tenses at this point. If you do have difficulty, please go back and check out the verb conjugations in both the Spanish Easy Review quiz series, as well as here in the Spanish Medium Review quiz series. This sentence has a past tense verb. The first and second answers are present tense forms of the verb so they can be eliminated. Next you need to determine which pronoun is needed to replace Jacob. 3. Margaret looks so graceful as she SLIDES across the ice.
[ ] deslicé
[x] desliza
[ ] deslizan
[ ] deslizó
This sentence has a present tense verb. The first and last answers show the past tense forms so they can be eliminated. Next you need to determine which pronoun is needed to replace Margaret. That would be she. The third answer shows the present tense verb for 'they slide'. Therefore, it can also be eliminated. The second answer shows the present tense verb for 'she slides'.
4. I HATE liver and spinach.
[x] odio
[ ] odia
[ ] odié
[ ] odiáis
This sentence has a present tense verb. The third answer shows the past tense form so it can be eliminated. The given pronoun is I. The second answer is the verb for 'you (singular formal)/he/she/it hates' making it incorrect. The last answer is the verb for 'you hate' (plural familiar). It, too, can be eliminated. The first answer is the verb for 'I hate'.
5. You REMEMBERED to lock the door before you left, right? (Plural familiar)
[x] recordasteis
[ ] recordáis
[ ] recuerda
[ ] recordó
This sentence has a past tense verb. The second and third answers are both present tense verb forms. The pronoun has been provided as 'you', as well as the hint that it needs to be in the plural familiar form. The last answer show the verb in the singular formal form making it incorrect. The correct answer for 'you remembered' in the plural familiar form is recordasteis.
6. We ROW on the Charles River.

[ ] remáis
This sentence has a present tense verb. The second answer shows the past tense form so it can be eliminated. The pronoun 'we' has been given. The first answer is the verb form for 'they row'. That is not correct. The last answer is the verb form for 'you row' (plural familiar). That is also not correct. The third answer is the verb form for 'we row'.
7. The boys WANTED to go to the beach after school.

You might first believe it to be 'they' but that is not correct. The team is a singular object. It is not a 'he, she or you' but it is an 'it'. Therefore, it is an indirect object pronoun and the verb for the indirect object pronoun here would be 'lanzó' for 'it threw' the game. What is 'it'? 'The team.'
