There are some words that, when we say they have happened already, completely change. If I bite you, I’m doing it now but if I did it yesterday, then I bit you. The word ‘bite’ changes to ‘bit’. There are a few words that change like this and they are called irregular past tenses.

Irregular means unusual. Often to show past tense we can add 'ed' to show that it has already happened. However, some verbs change a letter or letters to show it has moved from present to past tense.
