Story - Amazon River

The Amazon River is a large river that runs through a few countries in South America. Specifically, it goes through Brazil, Colombia and Peru. The distance the river travels is the second longest in the world. However, this river produces the most water into any ocean.

The area around the Amazon River is known as the Amazon Rainforest. Many diverse animals live in this area. As a matter of fact, about 33% of all the species of animals known to people live in this rainforest. There are more than 3,000 different kinds of fish that live in the river. Other animals include crabs and turtles.

The Amazon River provides many people with ways to transport goods down the river. However, the river has problems too. People need to be aware of the dangerous snakes and other animals that live in the river. Also, the river floods in certain areas. Sometimes, the water can rise as much as 100 meters.
