Of course reading is done in all subjects making it a pretty important aspect of a person’s education. However, just focusing in on the English class, a fun way for teachers to help their students to fine tune or hone their reading skills it to assign lots and lots and lots of books to read. In fact, by now you’ve probably read a few dozen books that were either recommended or mandated by an English teacher.

These books are staples because of what they have to offer, messages they foretell and they assist in helping your mind stretch and grow to learn and experience life in general, as well as to help you to develop a writing style that feels comfortable for you.

This quiz, and the one to follow [Part 2], will take a look at a number of books that nearly every middle school student will read, generally between the 6th and 8th grades. Knowing an author helps you to understand their writing style, the messages they try to deliver and, if you like how they write, you can search for other books and stories written by them.
