Spanish Easy Review Quiz - Comprehension - I Can Read Spanish! (Quiz 4) (Questions)

This fourth Spanish Easy Review comprehension quiz is going to continue to help you review your ability to read Spanish. That also means that you have now made it half way through the series of Comprehension: I Can Read Spanish! quizzes.

Each quiz in the series has been set up to help you realize just how far along you have come in learning a new language. Even if this series seems a little difficult, you can always go back to the previous Spanish Easy Review quizzes and restudy the areas that have presented some confusion for you.

The word Jorge is Spanish for George and the word José is Spanish for Joseph. This means that the first and last answers can be eliminated. Notice that between Jorge and José there is the letter y which is Spanish for 'and'. The second answer does not include this conjunction so it, too, is not correct. The correct translation is: George and Joseph study at night. Notice that in this instance 'en' in the sentence means 'at' rather than 'in'. As you have seen this earlier, you will come across many instances of using 'en' for 'at' rather than 'a' for 'at'. The novice speaker will tend to use 'a' while the seasoned speaker will use 'en'.

Christine makes cookies on Saturday.

Each answer has correctly translated Christine to Cristina. In addition, each answer has correctly translated on Saturday as en sábado. The second answer shows the plural translation for makes. Hacen means they make. You can now eliminate the second answer as it is not translated correctly. The Spanish word for cookies is galletas. It is a feminine word and it does not contain an accent mark. You can now eliminate the third and last answers. The correct translation is then: Cristina hace galletas en el sábado.

The Spanish verb for to learn is aprender. This now shows you that the first, second and third answers can now be eliminated. The sentence than translates as: Ellos aprenden a hablar italiano.
