When studying GCSE History students will be taught about warfare in Britain during the past. One timespan they will cover is from the Roman invasion to the late medieval era.
Britain has witnessed much warfare throughout its history, whether in modern times or in the times of the Roman Empire. The Romans in Britain were challenged by Boudica's revolt. Following the Roman withdrawal from Britain 400 years later the Anglo-Saxons invaded, who in turn were defeated by the Normans. Subsequent English medieval kings like, Edward I and Edward III, expanded into Wales and France, but permanent success against the Scots eluded them.
