This Sound k spelling quiz informs KS1 children that ‘k’ is used instead of ‘c’ before certain letters. The spellings in this quiz have been taken from and added to those in the National Curriculum.
The sounds ‘k’ and ‘c’ are easily confused, especially as they can make the same noise. To know whether a word is spelt with a ‘k’ we look at the letter following it, so if the letters ‘e’, ‘i’ or ‘y’ are after the letter – it is more than likely going to be spelt with a ‘k’. Test your knowledge on spellings with the ‘k’ sound.
