What is a historical person in KS1 History?

A historical person is someone who lived in the past and is remembered today. They often did something brave, caring or important that changed how people thought or lived.

How do we find out about historical people?

We learn about historical people by looking at evidence such as old photos, diaries, paintings, newspapers and museum objects, and by reading stories or watching programmes about their lives.

Why do we learn about historical people at school?

We learn about historical people so we can understand how life was different in the past, notice their good and bad choices, and use their stories to help us make better choices today.
