This quiz addresses the requirements of the National Curriculum KS1 History for children aged 5, 6 and 7 in years 1 and 2. Specifically this quiz is aimed at the section dealing with developing an awareness of differences between the past and the present.
An awareness of history can be developed by looking at different areas, one of which is leisure time. The way we spend our leisure time has changed dramatically over the centuries. The invention of labour saving devices has ensured we have much more free time than our ancestors - we don't even need to leave the house to do the shopping! Children in KS1 will learn about how leisure time in the past differed from that of the present, which helps them to develop an awareness of the differences between life in the past and the present time.
