How do I round to a given number of decimal places?

Keep the stated number of decimal places and check the next one. Example: 3.276 to 2 decimal places looks at the third decimal 6, so it rounds to 3.28.

What does rounding to 2 significant figures mean?

Keep the first two non-zero digits then round using the next digit. Examples: 15,462 to 2 s.f. is 15,000, and 0.004872 to 2 s.f. is 0.0049.
