Welcome to Related Words quiz 2. You need to work out a different code for each question.
Sometimes you will have to find a match for a word by moving forward a number of spaces in the alphabet, and sometimes by moving backward. Count how many spaces there are between a code and its decoded word, and then carry out that same operation on your question.
If you completed Related Words 1, you will know that occasionally there will be two calculations to make, for different letters in a word, so watch out for that, and also for words with more than four letters!

The code here needs you to go forward two letters, then back two letters, then forward two and finally back two. This will show you that H = J (forward 2 places) and E = C (back two places) then R = T (forward two places again) and E, we already know, = C

In this code we need to move just one place forward in the alphabet to get from code to word. Knowing this allows us to say that E = F, H = I, R = S and S = T

This code makes us move three places forward in the alphabet to get from word to code (skipping 2 letters each time) so to get from code to word we have to move back three letters (skipping two) each time. C = F, O = R, N = Q and E = H, so G will = D, U will = R, D will = A and Z will = W. DRAW. Easy!

We tried to catch you out this time by asking for the code from a word, instead of a word from a code! Did you spot the difference in the question? The way this code works is by moving back through the alphabet five letters each time. So W = R, I = D, L = G and T = O. This means that in the word in the question, F = A, I = D, L = G and M = H. You should have spotted that I and L both feature in both words together

Both words in this question are disgusting! The trick to this code is realising that the last two letters don't change - OT stays as OT, so CK should also stay as CK. This leaves only two letters to work out in each part of the question. To get from the code to the word, we need to move back two letters in the alphabet. This gives us U = S, P = N and remember to leave the last two letters unchanged (SNOT). For the unknown word U = S and K = I. Leave the last two letters alone and we have made you SICK!

In this code, you must move back three letters (skipping two letters) each time to get from the word to the code, or forward three letters (skipping two letters) each time to get from the code to the word. So, F = C, I = F, N = K and D = A. That sorts out FIND, so now look at TLOA. T = W, L = O, O = R and A = D. WORD. Did you FIND the right WORD?

In this code the first and third letters change, moving forward six letters in the alphabet each time, and the second and fourth letters stay unchanged. So looking at CODE: C = I, O stays the same, D = J and E stays the same. Turning to WUOZ, remember to reverse the order so it's six spaces back in the alphabet, but keep letter two and four unchanged: W = Q, U stays the same, O = I and Z stays the same. If you got this one right, you should have found a QUIZ CODE!

A tricky one this time with one letter in the word being equal to two letters in the code. You should have seen the relationship between the first letter in the word and the first two letters in the code. C = DE, A = BC, M = NO and P = QR, so the two letter combination is the next two letters in the alphabet from the letter in the original word. Having worked this out, it is easy to say that GH = F (the letter before G), MN = L (the letter before M), BC = A and QR = P. Easy when you know how!

In this code different numbers of moves take place, and in different directions. To get from SAME to QDKH we moved the first letter back 2 spaces, and the next letter forward 3 spaces, then back 2 and forward 3 again. So, S = Q, A = D, M = K and E = H. Here we have to count the letters and see where they appear in the alphabet. If a number is 3rd from the start in the alphabet, its corresponding code letter is 3rd from the end of the alphabet. So H = S (8th from the start and 8th from the end), E = V (5th from the start and 5th from the end), E = V (5th from the start and 5th from the end), and D = W (4th from the beginning and fourth from the end). Looking at the code GFXP we can show that G = T (7th from the end and 7th from the beginning), F = U (6th from the end and 6th from the beginning), X = C (3rd from the end and 3rd from the beginning).
