Counting spaces will help you in this 11-plus verbal reasoning Related Words quiz! Get ready to count!
The alphabet is included in each question to help you. You need to work out a different code for each question. Sometimes you will have to find a match for a word by moving forward a number of spaces in the alphabet, and sometimes by moving backward. Count how many spaces there are between a code and its decoded word, and then carry out that same operation on your question. If you completed Related Words 3, you will know that occasionally there will be two calculations to make, for different letters in a word, so watch out for that, and also for words with more than four letters! Finally, enjoy Related Words quiz number 4, the last in this series. Just click on the link to get more Verbal Reasoning quizzes when you are done.

This code works by going forward three places each time. So, T becomes W, F becomes I, O becomes R and B becomes E
|
The code is simply one letter to the right in the alphabet, each time. So, T becomes U, I becomes J, M becomes N and E becomes F, making UJNF. FUNJ sounds much more FUN, but UJNF it is!

The code is 7 letters backwards through the alphabet. Think of the alphabet as a circle without a beginning or an end
|
The code requires us to move 5 letters to the right each time. RNLI would have been a HAND-SOME answer, if you were a sailor! RNLI stands for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution who operate the country's lifeboats

Did you manage to work out the code? It was tricky. The first letter went back one, but the second went forward one, the third went back one and the fourth went forward one. So E = F, J = I, U = V and F = E
|
The code here is simply four letters to the left. So C = G, W = A, I = M and A = E. Easy!

Did you see that it had to begin with F, because the code letter was the same (L)? The code is 6 places to the right. If that didn't make it easy, maybe FINGER did. Lovely as fish fingers are, they have too many letters for this clue!
|
The second letter in both codes are the same, so you should have worked out that the second letter of the correct answer must be A. The code here was a large 12 places to the right!

An easy one - the code is just one space to the right. So T = S, Q = P, J = I and O = N. Enough letters to put your head in a SPIN!
|
This wasn't so easy and if you spotted in the code that there are two of the letter I, then you may have realised it wasn't so straightforward! The code is forward 3, back 3, forward 3 and back 3.
