The dancer was outstanding and ought to receive a standing ovation. Test your KS3 spelling knowledge of words beginning at ou.
"Lots of people can write a good first page but to sustain it, that's my litmus test. If I flip to the middle of the book and there's a piece of dialogue that's just outstanding, or a description, then I'll flip back to the first page and start it." - Carl Hiaasen.
One way to develop prowess in spelling is to create groups of interrelated words. You might take a stem, for example, and think of all the words you know which include this stem. "Sustain", for example, is related to "retain", "contain", "detain" and "obtain". Or, you might take a prefix or suffix and collect words which include it. For instance, the sus- of "sustain" can also be found in "suspend" and "susceptible". Spending some time on exercises like these will not only help your spelling, but will also give you an impressive vocabulary!
