Idioms are phrases or sayings used in written and spoken language. Have you ever noticed how we often say things one way but they have a completely different meaning? For example, “This quiz is easy as pie!” Naturally the quiz is not a pie but the saying, “easy as pie” means that it has no difficulty at all. When we use words or phrases (sayings) that say one thing but mean something else, it is called an idiom. Every language has its own idioms.
