As I Like It is our fun title for Missing Word Similes. This quiz introduces children in middle school to the idea of similes. The key aim in this quiz is for them to learn that the words ‘like’ or ‘as’ are used and that the content should involve comparing two items or things. This will aid the poetry section of their curriculum, and add to their expanding knowledge of the English language and literacy.
When learning poetry, you may learn about similes. A simile is when you compare two things, like ‘her hair was as gold as the sun.’ Here we are comparing hair to the sun. We would always compare these two things with the words ‘like’ or ‘as’.
