Year 1 - The Sound ir
This 'Sound ir' spelling quiz tests KS1 children on the recommended spellings with that sound, stated in the National Curriculum. To help you when teaching this sound, think of the word ‘girl’ and use that as your start point.
The sound ‘ir’ makes a similar noise to ‘er’. Unlike ‘er’, ‘ir’ is often in the middle of letters, whereas ‘er’ can be at the end (as a suffix). Improve your English by playing these spellings with the ‘ir’ sound.
