This quiz addresses part of the requirements of the National Curriculum KS1 for children aged 5 and 6 in years 1 and 2 in Geography. Specifically it looks at the seas and oceans around the British Isles. It is one of 50 quizzes to help you understand the world around you.

We live in the British Isles. We live in either Great Britain, Ireland or one of the smaller islands. We are surrounded by sea. Do you know the names of the seas and oceans around the British Isles? There are ports on our coast. Ships sail into and out of these ports. So it is good to know the names of the seas and oceans around us.

    The Celtic Sea lies between Ireland and Cornwall

    Trains run through the Channel Tunnel
  8. Suffolk is in the east of England. Sam is on holiday in Suffolk. He stands on the coast and looks east. What sea is he looking at?
    Suffolk is a county in East Anglia. East Anglia is a region of England
  9. The River Thames runs through London. What sea does the River Thames flow into?
    Remember, the North Sea is to the east of England and Scotland
  10. Liverpool is on the River Mersey. What sea does the River Mersey flow into?
    Remember, the Irish Sea lies between Great Britain and Ireland
