This quiz addresses the requirements of the National Curriculum KS1 Science for children aged 5 and 6 in years 1 and 2. Specifically this quiz is aimed at the section dealing with foods that come from plants.

What do you know about plants? Plants are living things. You know already that plants are the green colour in our gardens, parks and fields. Flowers are pretty to look at. But what else do you know about plants? Lots of animals eat plants for their food. Humans eat plants as food too. Let’s find out which ones humans and animals eat.

  8. What is the woman eating?
    Salads are made of food from plants. Do you like salads? What can you put in a salad?
  9. Carrots are plants. Which part of the carrot plant do we eat?
    We eat the roots of carrot plants. Turnips and beetroot are roots, too
  10. These are potato plants. Where on the plant do potatoes grow?
    They grow under the soil. Never eat the green part of a potato - it’s poisonous!
