Sometimes, to show a verb happened in the past, we can just add ‘ed’ to that word. However, there are some verbs that when moved from the present to past tense, change completely. These are called irregular past tense words.

Fight is the present tense way of saying it but if you have already fought - then it's already happened!

Normally we add 'ed' to show something happened in the past. This word is an irregular past tense because we don't add 'ed', we just add 'd'.

The helicopter flyed in the air.
The word 'fly' changes to 'flew', so 'you will fly in the air' changes to 'you flew in the air'.

This word changes quite a bit - it goes from 'find' to 'found'.

The young girl asks a question to her teacher.
Asked is the correct way to spell the past tense of ask.
