When measuring the area of a surface you are measuring a 2 dimensional area. For example, if you wanted to measure the area of a wall you would multiply its length by its height or by its width, depending upon how you look at it. So if the wall was 11 feet long and from floor to ceiling it was 8 feet high, you multiply 11 x 8 = 88 which means the area of the wall is 88 square feet.

To measure volume you need three points of references to be multiplied because you are measuring a 3 dimensional area. In other words, you need to multiply the length by the width by the depth.

If you took the quiz on *Cubic Inch and Cubic Feet* you learned that the measurement of the volume has a formula to follow, i.e., V = LWH. You also learned that 1 cubic foot (1ft.^{3}) contained 1,728 cubic inches (1,728in.^{3}).

In this quiz you will be converting cubic feet into cubic yards. The one thing to remember is that a standard yard that was equal to 3 feet is not the same thing as a cubic yard. The 3 feet equals 1 yard is a 2 dimensional surface area measurement. A cubic yard is the measurement of a 3 dimensional area. In cubic measurements, there are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard. So how do you convert cubic feet into cubic yards? You take the number of feet and divide it by 27 so if you have 360ft.^{3} the problem would be worked as: 360 รท 27 = 13.333333. ** Solution:** 360ft.

Seems simple enough? Well then, take a look at the following 10 questions and see if you can find the correct answer. (Pay attention to see if you are dealing with cubic inches, cubic feet or cubic yards or a combination!)
