What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) might sound like something from a science fiction film, but it’s very real – and it’s already part of everyday life. Whether it’s a smart speaker answering your questions, a chatbot helping on a website, or a video game character learning how you play, AI is all around us.

At its core, AI is when machines are designed to think, learn, and make decisions like humans. That doesn’t mean robots with feelings or dreams (not yet, at least!). It means computer systems that can solve problems, follow instructions, and even adapt based on what they experience – often much faster than people can.

Why Teach AI at Any Age?

AI is already changing the way we live, learn, work, and play – and it’s only just getting started.

By helping people understand the basics of AI early on – whether they’re children, teenagers, or adults – we’re not just preparing for a future filled with new technology. We’re also encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity. AI isn’t just a technical subject – it’s something that connects to every part of life.

One of the most powerful things about AI is that it’s cross-curricular. A lesson about robots might include computing, a splash of ethics, a sprinkle of English, and some serious imagination!

Four Age-Appropriate AI Learning Tracks

We’ve created four quiz-based AI learning tracks, each tailored to a different audience. The quizzes are short, interactive, and packed with surprising facts, clever questions, and colourful explanations.

Ages 7–11

Our youngest learners explore AI in a fun and accessible way. These quizzes answer questions like: What is AI? How do robots “think”? Can a computer draw a dinosaur? Children discover that AI is not just clever – it’s exciting, creative, and a little bit magical.

Ages 11–14

Here, we dive into how AI actually works. Learners explore machine learning, creativity, and real-world uses – like AI in video games, smart homes, and storytelling. These quizzes build understanding while keeping things engaging and age-appropriate.

Ages 14–17

This group takes on deeper questions: Should AI be allowed in exams? Can it be biased? Is it taking jobs? Teenagers are challenged to think critically about how AI is shaping society, law, careers, and even the arts.

Adults

AI isn’t just for the classroom. Whether you're a parent, teacher, carer, or simply curious, our adult-focused quizzes break down complex ideas in plain English.
