Individual Access

Students using Education Quizzes for independent learning

Independent learning gives students the freedom to practise, revise and recap what they have learned at school, building confidence at their own pace. It also gives teachers complete reassurance that learning stays focused, structured and curriculum-aligned.

How Independent Learning Works

Independent learning with Education Quizzes is built around a simple whole-school model that is easy to manage and scalable across classes and year groups.

Schools subscribe through a single administrator account. The administrator can then register as many teachers as required at no additional cost, allowing staff across the school to access quizzes, reports and support tools.

Each teacher can register as many students as they wish, again at no extra cost. Once registered, students gain full access to the Education Quizzes platform – including thousands of curriculum-aligned quizzes, instant feedback on every question, and guided support designed to help them learn independently and with confidence.

How Teachers Use Independent Learning

Teachers use independent learning to support and extend classroom teaching without adding unnecessary workload. Quizzes can be selected by subject, topic and age range, making it easy to match independent activity to what is currently being taught.

Independent learning can be used in a range of situations – including revision, consolidation after a lesson, preparation for assessments, or structured practice outside the classroom.

Because quizzes are self-marking and feedback is provided automatically, teachers can allow students to work independently while remaining confident that learning is purposeful, focused and aligned to the curriculum.

How the Traffic Light system supports independent learning

As pupils complete quizzes, their results automatically feed into the Traffic Light system. This provides clear visual feedback on understanding, showing pupils how secure they are in different topics.

The Traffic Light system is highly motivating. It helps pupils recognise progress, identify areas for improvement and take pride in moving from red to amber and green as their understanding improves.

Benefits for Pupils

Independent learning helps pupils take ownership of their learning by allowing them to practise and revise at a pace that suits them.

Once registered, pupils have access to the entire Education Quizzes site. Their scores are recorded automatically as they complete quizzes, allowing progress to be tracked over time without any extra effort from teachers.

Pupils also tap into the Traffic Light system, which provides clear visual feedback on progress and understanding. This system is highly motivating, helping pupils see improvement, set goals and build confidence as they learn independently.

Value for Schools

Independent learning with Education Quizzes provides schools with a consistent and structured approach to independent study across subjects and year groups, while offering an enjoyable supplement to more structured classroom learning.

The quiz-based format provides a different approach that lands well with many children, helping to maintain engagement while reinforcing curriculum knowledge and understanding.

The model is simple to manage and highly scalable – with one school subscription supporting unlimited teachers and students. This allows schools to embed independent learning across the curriculum while keeping workload and costs predictable.
