Christianity - Easter
How much do you know about Easter?

Christianity - Easter

This KS3 RE quiz takes a look at Christianity and Easter. A Christian's thoughts turn to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus at Easter. For anyone unfamiliar with Christian beliefs, but happy at the prospect of some bank holidays in the springtime, Easter would appear to be primarily concerned with egg hunts, chocolate and the Easter Bunny. Despite this rather non-serious appearance, Easter is the most important date in the Christian calendar. But do you know what Easter marks and why it is central to the Christian faith?

Easter is the culmination of Holy Week, which begins on Palm Sunday. During this week, Christians around the world imaginatively follow the events of Jesus's life, from his arrival in Jerusalem to celebrate the Jewish festival, Passover, and his sharing of the Passover meal with his followers, to his execution on the cross and burial. Christians believe that Jesus, as both God and human, did not remain dead, but was resurrected (a Latin term meaning risen again). Christians believe that they - and all human beings - will be resurrected, too, when time itself comes to an end.
