Colorado - The Centennial State.

Colorado

Colorado was admitted to the Union on August the 1st 1876 making it the 38th state of the USA in the nation's centenary year.

The south-western corner of Colorado borders New Mexico, Arizona and Utah and is the only place in the USA where the corners of four different states meet.

Colorado is the eighth largest American state, covering an area of 104,094 square miles, or 269,837 square km - that's slightly larger than New Zealand!

Actor and comedian Tim Allen was born in Denver, Colorado in 1953. Other famous Coloradoans include the horror film star Lon Chaney, Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Episode I Jake Lloyd and the "King of Jazz" Paul Whiteman.
