Connecticut

Connecticut is the 48th largest of the 50 states, having an area of 5,543 square miles, or 14,357 square km - that's about two thirds the size of Wales.

The official state mammal of Connecticut is the Sperm Whale. It was adopted in 1975.

Connecticut was admitted to the Union on January the 9th 1788, making it the 5th State of the USA.

Bear Montain is the highest summit in Connecticut at 2,316 feet (706 m), however, the highest point in the state (2,379 feet or 725 m) is on the slopes of Mount Frissell whose summit is in the neighbouring state of Massachusetts.
