New Jersey

New Jersey ratified the US constitution on the 18th of December 1787, becoming the third state of the USA.

The knobbed whelk (busycon caricatate) is the state shell of New Jersey. It is a species of predatory sea snail and can measure up to a foot (30 cm) long.

New Jersey's state motto is Liberty and Prosperity. It is not an official motto but is included on the 1776 coat of arms and so has become accepted as the unofficial motto.

Kingda Ka, situated within Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey is the world's tallest rollercoaster. It reaches a height of 456 feet or 139 metres.
