Fascinating Fact:

You might assume it is raining if you see people with wet coats. You are guessing, but you have not checked.

In KS1 Vocabulary, children learn that verbs are action words that tell us what people do. These verbs help children talk about thinking, noticing and making careful choices.

  • Verb: A word that tells what someone or something does.
  • Reflect: To think carefully about something or show it back like a mirror.
  • Assume: To think something is true before checking.
What is a verb in KS1?

A verb in KS1 is a doing word. It tells what a person, animal or thing is doing, such as run, jump, reflect or assume.

What does reflect mean for children?
