A rare animal is an animal that there are not many of. People try to protect rare animals.

In KS1 Vocabulary, children learn that adjectives are words that describe people, places and things. These words help children compare what is usual and what is unusual.

  • Adjective: A word that describes a noun.
  • Typical: Something that is usual or common.
  • Rare: Something that is not common and is hard to find.
What is an adjective in KS1?

An adjective in KS1 is a describing word. It tells us more about a noun, such as a person, place, animal or object.

What does typical mean for children?

For children, typical means usual or what you would expect. A typical school day might include lessons, playtime, lunch and story time.

What does rare mean in simple words?

Rare means not common and not seen very often. A rare thing, animal or event is special because there are only a few of them.
