THE THOUSANDS

To begin with, a thousand in Spanish is the word 'mil'. To then say that 'he has a thousand dollars' you would say, 'él tiene un mil dólares'. Moving forward, in order to say that 'he has two thousand dollars' you would say, 'él tiene dos mil dólares'. Notice that dos and mil are once again separated from each other. Unlike in the hundreds, you do not say dosmil or tresmil, etc.

To say ten thousand in Spanish you would say it as 'diez mil' and to say a hundred thousand it would be said as 'cien mil'. In order to say four hundred thousand it would be said or stated as 'cuatrocientos mil'. Finally, if you were to say three thousand five hundred twenty-five you would say it as 'tres mil quinientos veinte y cinco' (3,525). Notice that the numbers in the hundreds are stated as they should be whether they come before the thousand (mil) or after the thousand.

As you can see, for this quiz you only have to learn one new vocabulary word. That word is mil. However, you do need to pay close attention as to the formatting of how the higher numbers must be stated when put together.
