A preposition is a word that is usually used before a noun or pronoun to show the noun's/pronoun's relationship with some other part of the sentence, e.g. 'He fell into the hole'. Here, 'into' is a preposition. Here are some more common prepositions: 'in', 'on', 'behind', 'inside', 'at', 'over', and 'above'.

You probably know a lot more prepositions, but do you know which prepositions specific verbs take? For example, does the verb 'agree' take the preposition 'to', 'on' or 'with'? Well, it takes all three, but which one you use will depend on what you want to say. By the way, the answers represent the most commonly used prepositions.

I think that you'll find this elementary school English quiz interesting.
