About ESL Easy

ESL Easy is a friendly starting point for learners who are new to English. These short quizzes build confidence step by step, helping students practise common words, simple sentences and everyday topics in a clear, supportive way. The activities are written by educators, so they are practical, accurate and easy to use for home learning or classroom support.

Learners can practise useful language for daily life with quizzes such as What Can We Do and Isn’t This Fun. Topics like humour and hobbies also appear in A Funny Lot and Free Time Fun, giving learners a chance to repeat key vocabulary in different contexts. That repetition matters because it helps words and phrases stick.

Parents and carers can use these quizzes little and often. One or two quizzes at a time is enough, then return to a similar topic a few days later for spaced practice. Teachers can also use them as warm-ups, quick checks, or confidence boosters for learners who need extra support with English.

For official guidance on supporting pupils who speak English as an additional language, see GOV.UK: English as an additional language (EAL).

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is ESL Easy designed for?

It is designed for beginners learning English as a second or foreign language. The language is simple, the topics are familiar, and the quizzes help learners build confidence quickly.

How often should learners practise?

Little and often works best. Try one or two short quizzes, then repeat later in the week. Regular practice helps vocabulary move from “new” to “remembered”.

Can these quizzes be used in classrooms?

Yes. They work well for quick starters, guided practice, homework tasks, or extra support for learners who need more time with basic English.

Do learners need to know grammar rules first?

No. ESL Easy introduces language through examples and practice. Learners can pick up patterns naturally, then add grammar explanations later as confidence grows.
