Fascinating Fact:

Où est… ? means “Where is… ?”, like Où est la gare ? (Where is the station?).

In KS3 Fast French, location phrases help you cope in conversations quickly. This quiz builds confidence with asking where something is, understanding common places, and choosing polite language when needed.

  • Location question: A question that asks where something or someone is, often starting with a question word.
  • Place noun: A word for a location, such as station, school, shop, or museum.
  • Article: A small word like “le”, “la” or “les” that goes before a noun in French.
How do you ask where something is in French?

To ask where something is, you can start with “Où est” for one place and “Où sont” for more than one. Then add the place you mean.

What is the difference between Où est and Où sont?

“Où est” is used for one thing or one place. “Où sont” is used for things or places that are plural, such as “les toilettes”.

How can I ask for directions politely in French?

You can be polite by adding “s’il vous plaît” and using “vous” when speaking to an adult or someone you do not know well. A calm, clear question is also important.

In each question you will be given a word or words in English. All you have to do is choose the French equivalent from the four choices offered.
