Fascinating Fact:

la salle de bains means “the bathroom”.

In KS3 Fast French, learning nouns for places and objects helps you describe where you are and what you have. This quiz focuses on rooms at home, common household items, and choosing the right article.

  • Room: A space in a home with a purpose, such as a kitchen or bedroom.
  • Definite article: The word for “the” in French, such as “le”, “la” or “les”.
  • Preposition: A word that shows place, such as “dans” (in) or “sous” (under), used with nouns.
What are common French nouns for rooms in a house at KS3?

Common KS3 room nouns include “la cuisine” (kitchen), “la chambre” (bedroom), “le salon” (living room) and “la salle de bains” (bathroom). Learning them with articles helps you remember gender.

Why do French home nouns use le, la or les?

French nouns have gender and number, so the article changes. “Le” is masculine singular, “la” is feminine singular, and “les” is plural for both masculine and feminine nouns.

How can I describe where things are in French using home vocabulary?

You can combine a room or object noun with a preposition, for example “dans la chambre” (in the bedroom) or “sous la table” (under the table). This helps you make clear, accurate sentences.

In each question you will be given a word or words in English. All you have to do is choose the French equivalent from the four choices offered.
