Fascinating Fact:

janvier means “January”.

In KS3 Fast French, days, months and directions are building blocks for everyday speaking. This quiz helps you handle dates, routines, and simple route instructions using clear, practical vocabulary.

  • Time expression: A word or phrase used to talk about when something happens, such as a day, month, or part of the week.
  • Direction: A word that tells you where to go, such as left, right, straight on, north, or south.
  • Preposition: A short word used with places or times, such as “en” (in) or “à” (at/to).
Do you use capital letters for days and months in French?

In French, days of the week and months usually do not start with a capital letter unless they begin a sentence. This is different from English, where they are normally capitalised.

How do I say on Monday and in January in French?

You often use “le” with days to talk about a routine, such as “le lundi” for “on Mondays”. For months you commonly use “en”, for example “en janvier”.

How do you give directions in French at KS3?

You can give simple directions using short commands like “tournez à gauche” (turn left), “tournez à droite” (turn right), and “allez tout droit” (go straight on). These phrases are useful in role plays and real travel situations.

In each question you will be given a word or words in English. All you have to do is choose the French equivalent from the four choices offered.
