In this Spanish Medium Review quiz you will be looking at some of today’s modern electronics. When it comes to the world of electronics these days, it is moving forward almost as fast as the speed of light. Even languages have been effected by new words and terminologies. You always knew what a 'bite' was but now you also need to know what a 'byte' is. A 'bite' is the tearing at a substance, like food, with the teeth. A 'byte' is equal to eight bits. So what’s a bit? A bit can be a tool piece or it can be a small portion of something. In electronics it is a unit of digital communication. It’s enough to make your head spin and that’s only one new word.
In order to keep up with the modern changes in the world, so too must language keep up with it and that includes keeping up with it not only in English but in Spanish as well.
You are probably familiar with most, if not all, of the words found in this introduction but do you think your grandparents know them well too? Probably not but they know words you wouldn’t be familiar with either. Thank goodness you don’t have to learn them today. Nope, just today’s modern electronic words. So let’s take a look.
|cellphone||teléfono celular [m]|
|digital||digital [m/f] (this is an adjective and is the same with masculine and feminine nouns; also note that the G sounds like an H)|
|fiber optics||fibra óptica [f]|
|high definition||alta definición [f]|
|online||en línea [f]|
To make this quiz a little different, the quiz is going to give you ten different definitions. Your task is to find the correct Spanish word that the definition is describing. Don’t be worried – it’s not as hard as you first may think. Just take the time to learn your new vocabulary words (you might even want to look up their definitions) and then move on to the quiz. Good luck!
