Vocabulary - This is My Career!

In the Spanish Medium Review quiz series you learned the Spanish vocabulary words for a number of different occupations such as teacher, lawyer, secretary, scientist, policemen and fireman. Clearly there are a lot more occupations and/or careers that people can go into so that first list was rather short. In this Spanish Medium Review quiz we will look at vocabulary words for a number of career choices that will help you say, this is my career!

Again, the list provide here will still not cover every possible career choice but you will definitely have a good start on many avenues available to you. So, without any further delay, let’s take a look at some of those careers.

There are a lot of new words to learn or relearn here so take your time to get to know each one of them. Practice saying them out loud and look at how they are spelled and notice if they contain any accent marks. When you feel that you are ready, move on to the ten quiz sentences.

Each quiz sentence has a career word that has been shown in all capitalized letters. From the answers provided, locate the answer that correctly translates the capitalized career.

Some of you may not be aware of what a habit is in this context. A habit was and/or is a type of uniform worn by nuns. Now, the Spanish word for nuns is monjas.

In this sentence you do not know whether the politician is a male or a female. When you do not know you always use the masculine form of the word. The third and last answers show feminine words so they can be eliminated. The Spanish word for politician in the masculine form is político.

To locate the correct translation here you need to know how to spell the word. The Spanish career word for sportsman is deportista. It does not contain any accent marks so the first and last answers can be eliminated. The third answer has misspelled the word by using and 'e' instead of an 'i'.

As a priest is generally a male the masculine form of the word should be used. The last answer shows a feminine form so it can be quickly eliminated. The Spanish word for priest is sacerdote.

The Spanish career word for duchess is a feminine word. The second answer shows a masculine word so it can be eliminated. The Spanish word for duchess is duquesa.

The third answer is Spanish for manager but that is not the correct career. The last answer is Spanish for builder. Again, that is not the correct career. Margaret is a female so you will need to look for the feminine form of the word for counselor. In Spanish, that is consejera. The first answer would be for a male counselor.
