In the quiz Fahrenheit to Celsius we learned that, along with length/distance, weight/mass and volume that are measurements of the metric system, temperature also has a metric system measurement known as Celsius. It was devised in 1742 by Anders Celsius, a Swedish astronomer.

Measuring temperature using the Celsius scale is used the world over and even here in the U.S. in certain fields. Because you will frequently encounter it, it is a good idea to become familiar with it and how it relates to Fahrenheit. So, when you hear that something is say 50 degrees Celsius or 50º C, what would that be in Fahrenheit? There is a very simple formula that you will need to follow as shown below.
