Okay, so what exactly is endocrinology? Endocrinology is a branch found under biology. It is the study of the endocrine system or the series of glands that secrete hormones into the circulatory system. The major endocrine glands include the pineal gland, pituitary gland, pancreas, ovaries, testes, thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, hypothalamus, gastrointestinal tract and the adrenal glands. Endocrine glands are “ductless”.

Now let’s learn a little more about each gland and other functions of the endocrine system (see below).

Makes you think about the body a little differently doesn’t it. There is a lot going on inside us that we each take for granted. However, when something goes wrong, if we can pinpoint what that something is, we can often determine which organ or gland is having trouble.
